{"id":1676,"date":"2018-04-16T06:23:22","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T22:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/?p=1676"},"modified":"2018-04-16T06:23:22","modified_gmt":"2018-04-15T22:23:22","slug":"chickpea-milanesas-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/2018\/04\/chickpea-milanesas-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Chickpea Milanesas Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My oldest daughter is a vegetarian, so I try to find vegetarian equivalents of the meals with eat.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not eager to make two meals, so the easier the vegetarian version can be, the better.\u00a0 This version for chickpea milanesas qualifies as easy.\u00a0 She likes them well enough that I&#8217;ve already made them four times.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1677 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-1004-e1523830929388-1024x652.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-1004-e1523830929388-1024x652.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-1004-e1523830929388-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-1004-e1523830929388-768x489.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG-1004-e1523830929388.jpg 1658w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chickpea Milanesas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 can chickpeas, drained<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup water<\/li>\n<li>1 cup flour<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp oregano<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp dried parsley flakes or chopped parsley<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp garlic powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp cumin<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp paprika<\/li>\n<li>salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/li>\n<li>Italian-style breadcrumbs<\/li>\n<li>olive oil for frying<\/li>\n<li>lemon juice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using an electric blender, puree chickpeas and water together.\u00a0 Mix in the flour, spices and salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>Put breadcrumbs in a large plate.\u00a0 Four your hands.\u00a0 Take a large spoonfull of batter and flatten it using your hands.\u00a0 Press onto the breadcrumbs, then turn and repeat.\u00a0 Repeat with the rest of the batter.<\/p>\n<p>Heat olive oil over medium-high heat.\u00a0 Using a spatula, transfer the milanesas onto the oil and fry for a couple of minutes until golden. Turn and repeat.
