{"id":1301,"date":"2012-11-29T07:55:30","date_gmt":"2012-11-28T23:55:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/?p=1301"},"modified":"2012-12-18T00:45:04","modified_gmt":"2012-12-17T16:45:04","slug":"earl-grey-for-cheap-dilmah-taja-tea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/2012\/11\/earl-grey-for-cheap-dilmah-taja-tea\/","title":{"rendered":"Earl Grey for Cheap: Dilmah &#038; Taja Tea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1302\" title=\"dilmah tea\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/dilmah.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/dilmah.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/dilmah-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>There are many things I love about having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/category\/grocery-outlet\/\">Grocery Outle<\/a>t so near my house, and one of them is their ever changing brands of tea.\u00a0 I used to pretty much only buy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twinings.com\/\">Twinnings<\/a> tea (waiting for it to go on sale, as it&#8217;s usually $4 for 20 bags), but so many of the teas I&#8217;ve found at Grocery Outlet are comparable in flavor, that I am no longer tied to that venerable branch.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m usually a black-tea girl, but I do make an exception for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Earl_Grey_tea\">Earl Grey<\/a>, a black tea flavored with <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bergamot_orange\">bergamot orange<\/a> oil.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve recently had those produced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tajatea.com\/\">Taja Tea<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dilmahtea.com\/\">Dilmah<\/a>, and they were both excellent.<\/p>\n<p>Taja Tea specializes on &#8220;saffron&#8221; teas and offers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tajatea.com\/about.html\">five flavors<\/a>.\u00a0 The Earl Grey is made with black tea from Argentina, and artificial bergamot flavors (I checked).\u00a0 Still, it is delicious.\u00a0 Other Taja Tea flavors also get <a href=\"http:\/\/steepster.com\/teas\/taja-tea\/12142-saffron-fusion-tea\">good reviews<\/a>, and I may try the red rubio and the assam if I catch them at GO.<\/p>\n<p>Dilmah is a Sri Lanka based, family company, established soon after Sri Lanka gained its independence.\u00a0 They specialize on Ceylonese tea, as you&#8217;d expect, and their Earl Grey is very satisfying.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not as flavorful as Taja&#8217;s, but it has nothing to envy Twinnings.\u00a0 It uses Ceylon black tea and artificial bergamot flavoring.<\/p>\n<p>They are both cheaper than Twinnings as well.
