{"id":1097,"date":"2011-08-01T10:43:14","date_gmt":"2011-08-01T02:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/?p=1097"},"modified":"2011-08-01T10:43:14","modified_gmt":"2011-08-01T02:43:14","slug":"red-wine-sauce-for-beef","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/2011\/08\/red-wine-sauce-for-beef\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Wine Sauce for Beef"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is a relatively simple wine sauce to accompany the less flavorful cuts of beef (things like filet mignon, though I served it with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marga.org\/foodblog\/2011\/08\/flat-iron-steak\/\">flat iron steak<\/a>).\u00a0 You could serve it with any type of beef that has been grilled, broiled, or roasted.\u00a0 I got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/giada-de-laurentiis\/flat-iron-steak-with-red-wine-sauce-recipe\/index.htmlhttp:\/\/\">this particular recipe<\/a> from the Food Network but I&#8217;ve made similar sauces before.\u00a0 This recipe makes a LOT of sauce, enough to serve at least 6 people.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 Tbsp. butter, divided<\/li>\n<li>1 onion, thinly sliced<\/li>\n<li>3 garlic cloves, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. dried oregano<\/li>\n<li>4 Tbsp. tomato paste<\/li>\n<li>2 1\/2 cups red wine<\/li>\n<li>beef juices<\/li>\n<li>salt &amp; pepper to taste<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Melt 2 Tbsp. butter over medium heat in a deep skillet.\u00a0 Add the onion and saute until soft, about 5 minutes.\u00a0 Add the garlic and oregano, mix, and cook for a minute. Mix in the tomato paste and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.\u00a0 Mix in the wine and simmer until reduced by half, about 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Strain the sauce into a bowl, pressing the vegetables to extract all the juice.
