Los Perico's is our favorite taqueria in San Leandro. We get take out from there about a couple of times a month, and once in a while eat at the premises. We find their food to be very good, quite fresh and almost a la par with that available in Mission taquerias.

special quesadilla Their menu includes burritos, tacos, quesadillas and specialty plates (e.g. enchiladas, fajitas, shrimp). Inn addition to the usual meats, they feature chorizo, tongue, brains and beef cheeks for those looking for more "exotic" ingredients. We always order the Special Quesadilla ($4.25) which resembles a burrito. It comes with cheese, your choice of meat, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and salsa. This is a good option for people who do not like rice and beans in their burritos (like me).

Los Perico's also serves Mexican "agua frescas" and other drinks as well as freshly-squeezed orange juice and carrot juice. I've had the orange juice once and it was just OK, but it really depends on how the oranges are at any particular season.

The people who take orders are all very nice and friendly. Service is very good (as in they bring your order fairly quickly and they clean tables quite often). Sometimes at peak dining time you may have to wait a while both to place and get your order, but that's just life. You can take advantage of the wait by going to Baskin Robbins across the driveway and getting some ice cream for dessert.

The restaurant itself, if you want to eat there, is more utilitarian than comfortable or attractive. It's not really a place to linger, though you may have to do so while waiting for your SO to finish playing one of the videogames available. You can always watch Spanish-language TV while you do so.
