Galinha ao vinho

Chicken with wine

This recipe is homey, simple and fairly quick to make - it's also very good

Galinha ao vinho


  • 2 1/2 lbs chicken parts
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 shallots, chopped
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped


Salt and pepper the chicken parts. Brown in butter on all sides. Add mushrooms and shallots and mix. Cover and cook until the mushrooms are golden. Add diced tomatoes and garlic, cook until the chicken is done. Remove the chicken from the pot and add wine to the sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes. Season to taste. Serve chicken with the sauce.
