I didn't look carefully at the recipe for this dish before making it, so I was surprised, and disappointed, that the "lime sauce" turned out to be just lime juice mixed with water. Needless to say it wasn't very exciting - all it did was give the beef a lime flavor. That wasn't necessarily bad, as the beef was very lightly flavored - not enough for me, but my husband and children liked it.
Cambodian Marinated Beef With Lime Sauce
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- black pepper to taste
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
- 7 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1 1/2 lbs. sirloin, cubed
- 2 Tbsp. lime juice
- 1 tsp. water
- 1 Tbsp. oil
Combine sugar, black pepper, soy sauce and garlic. Stir well and add the beef. Coat and marinade for at lest 20 minutes.
Make lime sauce by combining lime juice with water and seasoning with black pepper.
Heat the oil to hot. Sautee the beef until done, 3 minutes for medium rare. Serve with lime juice.
